Just in case there's anyone out there who still hasn't seen this...

HOW TO EXPLAIN GAY RIGHTS TO AN IDIOT

Despite the fact that the author doesn't know the difference between "it's" and "its," they still make an excellent point.

LOVE THIS!

[identity profile] duskblue.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
While I completely agree with this and think that gay marriage should be legal, I think the problem with getting people who are against gay marrage to agree with this, is that they think that the church SHOULD have a say in government. (which is completely utter shit... and I don't think I even need to go into why it's not right) but you seriously can't argue with these people!

[identity profile] velessa.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Of course they do. And even then they only want THEIR religion to have a say. If the government had to also recognize, say, Muslim rules? WWIII would break out.

[identity profile] duskblue.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, so true!!! I heard of a story (I forget which state, but it was on the Non-Prophets podcast) where a muslim said a prayer during congress or something, and there was a HUGE UPROAR. OH NO! you can't do THAT KIND OF PRAYER! But when a Christian does it, it's okay, because it's for THEIR god!!!

Christians want to hang up their 10 commandments and throw a fit when people take them down, but how would they like it if people started putting up things in goverment places of DIFFERENT religions??? They need to realize that it goes both ways.

Another thing. Which kind of Christianity should the Government adopt?? If they pick one kind, all the other christians are gonna say, "NO! IT SHOULD BE MY KIND! Those aren't REAL Christians!! That's WRONG!" They should think about this before they think the government should adopt a religion.

Actually I've seen it on Facebook a few times, that's where I found it. There's a link at the top of the post.

[identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you post the definition of Homophobia as "the fear a gay man will treat you the way that you treat women"? That was brilliant.

[identity profile] velessa.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but that is awesome! LOL

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/blitzen_/ 2011-12-13 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)

Lol I saw this and went WIN!
I almost showed it to Nic..

[identity profile] velessa.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
He's religious, right? You might want to show him this one: http://www.danoah.com/2011/11/im-christian-unless-youre-gay.html

[identity profile] wastedrock.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah he is. He's tolerant though, but the marriage thing is the real sticking point, he doesn't vote against it though, just doesn't see why it's such a big deal. He's a white male though, born to certain privilege just from that so he can't understand really. I have a lot of gay friends and he's good to them, so it's not like he's out there bashing gays and being a dick ( I wouldn't be with him if he was).

I would show him it, but I think I'll just post it to my FB instead, that way I won't be preaching to him :p

Beat me to it.
