AUGH yes...I remember my local news doing a piece on the ringtone and how kids are using it to cheat. And they kept PLAYING it! I was sitting here desperately searching for the remote because that horrid shrill noise kept coming out of my TV.
C# in particular makes my skin crawl, but that 21.1kHz is certainly annoying too,

And your opinion on the annoyance. The only reason I could see this being amusing would be to totally piss off myself and no one older than me...which was kind of what these sounds were designed for, right?
