David Eddings has died D=

He wrote my still-favorite series to this day, The Belgariad. I can always go back and read those books and enjoy them over and over every bit as much as the first time I read them. I also really enjoyed The Mallorean, The Elenium, and The Tamuli. Didn't like his later stuff written with his wife much, but still, he will be truly missed. =(

Holy crap, I'm just re-reading the Belgariad for comfort reading. This is terrible news. :(

aw that's sad. I love The Belgariad. That was the first fantasy series I ever read and still my favorite. Now, I don't know where those books are. I might have to buy them again. :(

I saw that yesterday. I LOVE LOVE his stuff. I started reading him in high school and to this day, The Mallorean and The Belgariad are ones I can read over and over!

My friend Lisa leant me her enormous hardcover editions of the Elenium in the 9th grade I believe. From then on, I was not only an Eddings fan, but a die-hard fantasy fan. When my husband told me that his mother read the Belgariad to him and his sister (ignoring any naughty parts and summarizing some battles), I knew he was the one for me. Very sad news!

I loved the Belgariad, a real milestone of the genre and I've probably read most of his other stuff as well. Later books do tend towards reusing the same basic characters with slightly different names but he always had entertaining dialogue and well-imagined worlds.

A sad day indeed. I'll always remember Garion and Silk, and Sparhawk was a bada$$. RIP Dave.
