Today I went to have my foot x-rayed and re-examined to see how it's doing. I fractured it on May 31st, so it's been about 10 weeks since then. I am happy to report that the x-rays shows that it is completely healed and I no longer have to wear my brace! I can finally wear normal shoes again instead of flip flops all the time! ^_^

Grr! Stupid LJ won't let me post more than a sentence, so long story short, on Thursday I badly sprained and/or broke (not sure yet, need more x-rays) my left foot on some uneven pavement and will be on crutches for a while.

So I picked up Bootsie successfully today. Apparently she'd been seen wandering around the neighborhood for the last couple of days, and someone finally called her in to get picked up. She actually didn't get all that far away, about four streets over, but we never saw her. Turned out to cost quite a bit to get her back, because her license renewal was $87 and the bill for the emergency care they gave her was $145. Also have to get a fax from the vet telling them that she can't get her rabies booster because last time she had a bad reaction and it could kill her. That has to be done within the next ten days or it'll be a $100 citation. =p Expensive little runaway! Well she's home now and acting completely normal, although perhaps a bit starved for attention.

And OUCH!! When I got home I was listening to the messages on the answering machine, and Jerry decided that'd be a great time to leap from the kitchen table onto my shoulders. While he does this frequently, this time I really wasn't expecting it and turned around partway as he was landing. Did I mention Jerry weighs 20 pounds? Of course he couldn't land well while I was moving, so much screaming and clawing and falling ensued. I now have three huge clawmarks down my back and one on my neck! Cats...

And it's WARM outside! The one good thing about rain, it brings warmer weather in the winter. And it's not even raining today, it's just warm. =)

Eek...I just noticed half of the top of my right foot is completely blue. On Monday night Apache stepped on my foot while I was putting him in the paddock since I couldn't see where I was going (we really need some damn lights out there!). He's a big freaking horse, too. I don't think anything is broken or anything like that (it would hurt a lot, right?), it's just very bruised and kind of tender. But still, I don't think I've gotten stepped on this badly in about ten years. I really need to watch where I'm going when closing since it's so dark out.

My whole family got new cell phones today, but I'm not sure how I'll like mine. It's a flip phone, but it's a bit wider and longer (due to the antenna) than my old phone; that's what I really don't like about it because I carry my phone in my pocket. I don't know if this one is going to fit and it'll probably be uncomfortable. And now I have to learn how to use a whole different system and reprogram everything into the new phone. *cringe* I don't like change, I like to stick with what I know (when it comes to electronics at least, I'm not exactly technologically inclined). At least I'll still have my old phone number. I really do need a new phone because mine kept giving me problems, so this one had damn well work better than mine and be worth the effort.

I also had to get new riding boots on Saturday because mine freaking *broke* near the end of my shift. I knew the heels were detaching from the bottom for a while, but I decided to keep wearing them until they fell apart completely. Well it happened Saturday, so I had to run out and get a new pair so I'd have them to wear to work on Sunday. That turned out to be a really bad day to break in new boots because we were totally swamped with customers, and I ended up being on my feet and running around without any breaks from about 7am until 1pm. It totally sucked. As expected I now have quite a few blisters to tend to, and it's back to work for me this afternoon. Yay. Still, this is only my 3rd pair in 10 years of working at the stable, that's not bad.

So much for sleeping in today! This is the only day of the week I don't have to get up early for something and now it's ruined. I was sleeping peacefully until I was jerked awake by horrible pain shooting through my leg from some kind of spasm/muscle cramp in my calf. OWWW!! That was two hours ago and it still hurts :(

Things are looking iffy with Oma. Her lungs aren't doing well, and at this point they don't know if they'll get better or worse. If they get worse then they'll never get better. Even if she does get better, there's no telling how much brain damage she may have due to all the bleeding. My parents are still with her and my brother and I are going to go down there tomorrow night or Friday morning. She is NOT supposed to go like this. She's always been a strong, active woman, and she always said she'd live to be 100 like those other old people on the news. And she could have easily done it, too. Now that's all been taken away at 83 because some fucktard ran a red light. I hope we sue him for everything he has. I'll never forgive him for this, and I can hold a grudge forever.

WTF is going on?? Tonight at class I found out one of the professors in my department had a heart attack today; he was one of my teachers last semester. He's in the hospital but it sounds like he'll be okay.

Oma is still in critical condition. In addition to the injuries I mentioned earlier she also has bleeding in the brain and a cut liver. She was touch and go for a while, but now at least she's stable. She'd better be fine...if I ever meet the person who did this to her I'll fucking kill em.

I just found out my maternal grandmother, Oma, was in a serious car accident. She was on her way to seniorcize this morning (the same place she broke her hip in February. I'm beginning to think this thing is a death trap for her) and was broadsided. Now she has a broken pelvis and broken rips and a concussion and is drifing in and out of consciousness. Both of my parents left work and are heading down to Fresno to see her right now; unfortunately my brother and I have to stay here to go to school and take care of the animals. You know, with the exception of the anime conventions, this year has just plain sucked for me and my family.
