Dude, did they have to kill off Kutner? He was my favorite one of the new crew, the only one that was actually amusing. It took me a while to get over the fact that Kutner =/= Kumar pretending to be a doctor, again, but after that he was a pretty cool character. The rest of them are so serious and dour all the time, I liked the lighter atmosphere he brought.
I wanted to find out why, and it looks like Kal Penn's accepted some kind of position working for the White House (Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Liaison, whatever that means), so he decided to leave the show. I did think it was strange that they'd write a character out who's still so relatively new, having only been there for two seasons, so he had to have had a really good reason to leave. That reason was still a surprise to me, I thought it would just be the typical "I'm leaving to go focus on making more movies" kind of thing.
Still, I don't see why they chose suicide for accomplishing his exit. Most dramatic turn of events possible I suppose? I guess the shock value makes for good tv...bah. Maybe given the current state of the world and economy and rising rates of suicide, the writers felt they could do some good by highlighting the horror and grief brought on by taking one's life.

Or maybe they just wanted to have one thing House isn't able to figure out. Lame! Either way, I still think it sucks. =\
