velessa: (Ducks - my Golden Pair)

By a pair of ducklings to be exact. They're so fluffly and adorable! My brother came home and found them hiding underneath our big truck. I have no idea what happened to the rest of their family or even how they got to our house (they're lucky one of the cats didn't get them!). They were starving and ate some bread, and my dad and brother managed to catch them in a box. Right now they're in the kiddie pool in the dog pen in the garage. So...anyone know anything about taking care of ducks?

Reminds me of my little duckling that got eaten by a raven, though ;o; It was so tiny and cute... T^T

Gomen ne, I don't remember anything about caring for ducklings since mine only lasted two days. >_>;;;;;;;;

o_O;; eaten by a raven...?

I only know that fresh bread is a no-no, because it is harmful to their stomachs when it expands- dried old bread is good though.

Haha, and obviously... avoid ravens... ;)

Well, more like pecked to death. My mom was playing with it in the yard, and when she went inside for a moment, the raven took its chance. I bawled after seeing the bloody mess T^T

So yes, avoid putting the ducklings outside unguarded if your area has lots of them ^^;

Ravens? Not that I know of...I'm more worried about my cat. He leaves dead birds and mice and other things on our back step all the time.

Thanks, I'm reading up on some care stuff online. We don't have anything suitable for birds here, so I'm going to have to go out and buy some feed in the morning.

I really *should* know, given that we have 4 ducks, among other things. All I know is that ducklings are a real pain and like to get themselves into trouble (eg// a whole line of them hopping into a drainpipe, which has happened. O_o;; Took ages to rescue the things). So yeah. That's all I've got.

My parents both raised them to sell/eat when they were in China. I'll ask them tonight when I see them. :o)
