Anyone else hate April Fool's Day? I can't stand it, I think it's just about the most obnoxious thing ever. Maybe it's because I'm so naturally trusting, and I believe people when they've given me no reason to doubt them. This day pisses me off because:

1. You can't trust anything. Anything you read, hear, see, etc. could be false. It's like your entire day is wasted, you may as well just stay in bed and sleep through the entire thing because anything you encounter today might not be real.

2. You can't say or do anything that IS important/significant/real/scary/upsetting/etc. because people probably won't believe you! What if something horrible happened and I needed to let people know about it? Today they'd be like "oh haha, very funny, April Fool's, you're not tricking me!" How fucking frustrating and upsetting is that??

3. I hate pranks. They're almost always stupid, cruel, and mean-spirited. It's horrible to create panic and distress for someone for no reason other than you think it's funny! Life is already full of cruelty and hardship, and we don't need assholes to add to it unnecessarily, thankyouverymuch.

I find the obvious ones amusing. Like the Google/Topeka thing.

I HATE when news sources do April Fool's day.

Yeah, I don't mind when it's obvious and harmless silliness like Google's home page. I hate the ones that try to look real.

yeah, NOT a big fan here. I take things at face value. Oh, I've seen a few pranks that were obviously pranks AND hysterical, but the rest is just people going around sucker punching eachother. Erm, no thanks

Oh yes. I hate it. I hated it growing up for the obvious reason ... and as an adult, I find most of what people do in the name of April Fools is just asinine.

Now, that said, thoughtfully done "pranks," like the Google one mentioned above can amuse me.

Mixed feelings about it. I do like the silly, blatantly fake stuff like the Google jokes. But like you said, people don't believe what you say today. I just came back from the dentist's office and I have a story! My body did something nobody in the office had seen before and I had never had happen before, but I'm not going to post about it until tomorrow, when people won't automatically think I'm kidding around.

I tend not to trust anything I see/hear anyway just as a baseline UNLESS I see something that obviously can't be faked. In that way I guess I'm the opposite of you! I'd be pissed if someone I implicitly trusted tried to toy with me emotionally... but I can't think of anyone I trust implicitly so I guess that's a non-issue!

I let my mom know I was pregnant on April 1st.. not because it was April 1st but that's when we honestly found out.

I think April Fools' pranks are fine when they're light-hearted and harmless. For example, this year I "Rick Rolled" a couple of my friends on Facebook in honor of April Fools' Day--it's just something silly and fluffy that has no negative consequences. I think it's hilarious when people do stuff like that to me, April Fools' Day or not, so I have no problem with it. However, it is not okay to fake a tragedy or serious crisis, or do anything else that causes emotional distress to people around you. Some people don't seem to understand that, so I can see why the holiday upsets you.

my E.A. got me a good one yesterday & told me i had a rip in my dress. it took me 2secs to realise & my response? to attack her with a kick & a swear word, lol.

i heard a good one tho: Queen street in a particular town was changed to "Republican street". i think that's clever.

all the chairs were removed from our office. what's even funnier? no one noticed! hahaha.

but you're right, pranks can be super mean spirited.

I got a silly email from TripAdvisor all about vacations in outerspace that I found amusing. I like the dorky stuff like that. My favorite line: "Zero gravity equals zero luggage fees!"

April Fool's sucks.

I rode Thunder. I lunged him, got on, did some awesome stretchy trot work (I had him on a completely loose rein and he was working on stretching down...he's been out of work and we're still developing the top of his neck), so I took him outside. He saw the neighbor cows and, while keeping an ear to them, wasn't tense at all. He listened and responded to my cues (I kept it to a walk because we're just starting this outside thing...apparently its a huge problem with him), didn't even freak out when a cow moooooooed. I was positively beaming throughout the whole first half of the ride.

Then we went back in the arena to finish up. And he said, "APRIL FOOL'S DAY!!!" and turned into hellish OTTB from Hell. Trying to throw his shoulder out to get to his stall to eat (which, dumbass, I'm graining so the longer you act up, the longer until you eat) and he ended up running himself into a stall door, a wall, and into the cross tie back wall. See, he tosses his shoulder out and I say, "Hell no" so he says, "Well, if you don't let me do this, then we're going to crash into this wall," and I say, "Crash into the wall, I don't care" and he responds with "You bluff!" and then when he almost hits it, still expects me to let him run out with his shoulder and I say, "Nuh uh" to which he then cries and says, "But, but, but..."

A lot of temper tantrums, a lot of me practicing one rein stops and keeping his feet moving and trying to keep him under me when those feet moved. A lot of him reminiscing of his days at the track on race day going out to the gate.

Seriously, it was night and day. Damn horse April fooled me.
