So it poured all day today, which made driving to SF and back barrels of fun! /sarcasm
Well at least I didn't kill anyone. SF gives me a headache though, seriously; nothing but psychos everywhere.
We saw the movie Memoirs of a Geisha, and I really enjoyed it. It was pretty much what I remembered from the book, except for the whole World War II and American Occupation part...I just checked the book and while it was in there, I don't remember it at all. I think it was kind of lightly glossed over in the book, whereas in the movie they seemed to make a big deal out of it. It seemed totally unnecessary to drag it out the way they did in the movie. Anyway the entire thing was very beautiful, and I loved the actors they hired (even though most of the women weren't actually Japanese!). I thought the chick who played Hatsumomo was especially excellent as the cruel monster she's supposed to be. And Ted Levine was in it! That kind of had me laughing because now I pretty much only see him as Captain Stottlemeyer from Monk.
I need to reread the book now to find out what else I've forgotten or the movie missed out on.
