My brother needs a new roommate to rent the other room in his townhouse in Santa Clara. It's a super nice, big place right by Santa Clara University. He's a quiet guy, mostly stays to his room and plays video games, and has one cat. I think the rent is around $750 for the room. If you know of anyone looking for a place to live in the South Bay, please let me know!!

To all of my friends in Japan, I hope you and yours are all safe and okay!! I stayed up late last night glued to the news. The tsunami footage is terrifying, I hope you were all well inland...same to everyone in the coastal regions of the Pacific.

Here they've closed the Pacific Coast Highway and other coastal areas, but it seems to be more to keep people from GOING TO WATCH the tsunami waves hit! What kind of idiot would want to run TOWARD a killer wave? *facepalm*

I shudder to think of the enormous loss of life and damage the earthquakes and tsunamis have already wreaked, with more to come as the aftershocks are still going on now, 11 hours later. I live in earthquake country, but what Japan is being hit with is on a much bigger scale than any of the ones I've been through, even the one in 1989. The first thing I'm going to do when I get home is put together an emergency preparedness bag; I haven't had one since I was a kid, which is unacceptable. This is just another reminder that Mother Nature can make us all her bitch at any given moment and not to take anything in life for granted.

Apparently doing drugs ages you twenty years in two, and also gives you horrible acne, wrinkles, and facial disfigurations! I wonder if the rest of their bodies look just as terrible?

Just say no, kids.

1 - Go to wikipedia and hit random. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 - Go to quotationspage.com and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days” Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use photoshop or similar (picnik.com is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.

Yesterday evening my friend Kim ([livejournal.com profile] greenanimal) and I went to see Cavalia in San Francisco. It was fun and full of surprises!

Finally Republicans were coerced into doing something right for a change. It's a start at least!

This is so awesome! This video combines some of my most favorite things seamlessly, my very favorite background music from Sonic the Hedgehog which happens to be from my favorite level ever (the ice level of Sonic 3) with one of my very favorite Michael Jackson songs and videos, Smooth Criminal. If you appreciate either of these things, watch it!

Bo rehomed

velessa: (Horses - Bo1)
Bo arrived safely at his new home in Arizona this afternoon. As I expected, he did great on the trip, took it with ease and was no trouble at all, and then settled right in to dinner with his new horse and donkey friends. I'm sure he'll be very happy with Linda, the lady who adopted him. =)

The show Fatal Attractions on Animal Planet pisses me off. It's about people who keep wild and/or exotic animals as pets, think they have "special bonds" with them and subsequently take stupid risks with them, then OMG everyone is so shocked when they get hurt or killed! And then of course the animals pay the ultimate price for behaving like animals. Fuck I hate people.

Listen, if I get hurt or killed by an animal, I guarantee you IT IS MY FAULT! I don't care what the fuck the animal did, I'm the one who took a chance or didn't understand what the animal was trying to communicate to me or what the fuck ever, but it is NEVER the animal's fault. And the last thing in the world I would want is for me to get hurt or die from some interaction I had with an animal, and then have my upset family and friends punish my beloved animal for behaving exactly the way it was supposed to! I fucking hate how these people's precious pets have to die because the owner's circle of people are too fucking stupid to understand you can't take revenge on an animal.

Anyway, my point is to make this perfectly clear to anyone who knows me: Should I ever be hurt or killed by an animal, wild or domesticated, that animal is not to be harmed, ever!!! Nothing would make my ghost angrier than to know my own stupidity or carelessness or ignorance caused an animal to suffer unnecessarily, and I swear I will haunt the fuck out of anyone who tries to take vengeance on an animal for me. THE END.

Bo's eyes

velessa: (Horses - Bo smelling poppies)
I'm posting this as a photographic record of just how far from normal the corpora nigra in Bo's eyes are. I had seen these things in horses' eyes before, of course, but I never really noticed or thought about how big his were until the vet pointed it out and I started really taking a look at those of other horses. Here I want to show you a comparison with Glory, one of the Paints I looked at last weekend; she also has a blue eye. After seeing these it definitely makes sense that much of his vision is being blocked out and he probably just kind of sees fuzzy stuff.

Did anyone catch the episode of Hoarders with that nutjob "Sir Patrick"? I couldn't help but think this makes so much sense:

The way he talked about the dolls and that one that reminded him of a little girl who was "special" to him or whatever was just freaking creepy...

I just found the most awesome thing ever hiding on my computer!

We Are Here to Change the World

THIS IS THE SONG FROM CAPTAIN EO!!! Download it!

It's the one he sings to the evil queen, if you don't remember (not the one at the end, that's Another Part of Me, which can be found on the Bad album). All this time I've been trying to find a Captain EO soundtrack in order to get this one song, and it turns out it was on the Ultimate Collection CD #2 all along! ^o^

Here's a crappy YouTube video of the scene:

The concert was amazing! It was awesome to be so close to the stage, and I got a ton of great pictures and souvenirs out of it. Brad Paisley is one of my very favorite country artists, so it was fantastic to see him in person. If you don't know who he is, I implore you to watch these couple of videos from him. He's known for doing a lot of really funny songs, not just your typical country fare. These are hilarious, even if you don't like country, please give them a chance!
